How to Stop Grass Buildup Under Your Mammotion Luba's Blades

If you own a Mammotion Luba, you've probably flipped it over after a wet-week mow and found the cutting discs packed with compressed grass. It's the most common complaint we hear from Luba owners — and after thousands of orders and our own lawns as test beds, we know what actually fixes it.

Why grass builds up under the Luba

The Luba's cutting discs spin at high speed with free-pivoting blades mounted on screws. Fresh clippings — especially damp ones — get flung into the gap between the blade disc and the chassis, where they compress into a dense mat. Over time this can:

  • Jam the pivoting blades so they no longer swing freely, leaving an uneven cut
  • Add drag on the cutting motors
  • Hold moisture against the underside of the machine

Fix 1: Disc covers

The single most effective upgrade. Our Luba disc covers shield the gap above the cutting discs so clippings can't pack in behind the blades. They mount with the original blade screws, come in versions for 4- and 6-blade discs (2023–2025 models), and customers consistently report blades staying free even after long sessions in dense or damp grass. With over 160 reviews averaging 4.9/5, this is our best-tested product.

Fix 2: Sealing kit

Under each cutting disc, the Luba's factory metal cages bolt to the chassis around the spindle — and they readily trap grass. The Luba sealing kit replaces those bulky cages with a slim ring that sits on the rubber gasket at the spindle, keeping grass and moisture out of the spindle and motor without a cage to clog up. It pairs naturally with disc covers — the covers shield above the disc, the seal protects below it. Pick the version that matches your disc design; newer discs with teeth on the underside need the low-profile seal.

Fix 3: Keep the underside clean and mow dry when you can

No accessory replaces basic habits: brush out the underside every week or two during peak season, and schedule mowing for dry parts of the day when possible. Wet grass packs many times faster than dry. If your blades have stopped pivoting freely, remove the blade screws, clear the compacted grass, and check the blades for wear — replacement blades are cheap insurance for cut quality.

The short version

Disc covers stop buildup at the blades, the sealing kit seals the spindle below them, and a quick brush-down keeps everything honest. All our accessories are 3D-printed in Sweden and ship from the EU in 1–3 business days.
